Courses Necessary for College

I don't think my 15-year-old son is on track to getting into college. He seems to be taking a very easy course load. What courses should he be taking? - College Bound
Answer: Your son's high-school handbook should spell out exactly what courses need to be taken in order to be admitted to most colleges. If not, look at a college Web site or bulletin. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the typical requirements include:
- four years of English
- three to four years of mathematics
- two to three years of history
- three to four years of science
- two to three years of foreign language
- one year of visual and performing arts
- one to three years of appropriate electives.
