CLEP Tests for College Credit

One of my friends told me that CLEP tests are another way to receive college credit. What is CLEP and what are its benefits? -- College Bound
Answer: CLEP is the acronym for College-Level Exam Preparation. This is not just one test; there are a wide variety of tests for mostly required college classes. Visit the website clep.collegeboard.org, and you will see the list.
The CLEP program allows you to take a test and receive college credit for a class if you pass the test. Check with your future college to make sure you will receive actual college credit rather than "advanced standing." Also, make sure that the college does not charge an exorbitant fee for registering your CLEP results.
Passing a CLEP test will not only give you college credit but save you money on tuition and books. You might do so well on the tests that you could enter college as a sophomore instead of a freshmen.
You can take a CLEP test at any Open Testing Center. There is a $55.00 fee to take one test and typically an additional $15.00 administration fee.
