Army or College First?

Instead of going to college right now, I plan to go into the Army and then enroll in college later on. This seems to make sense to me, as it would be very difficult for my family to give me any financial help. I would get some financial help after serving in the Army. During high school, I have been in the junior ROTC program and really enjoyed it. Is this a good idea? -- High-School Senior
Answer: Being in the junior ROTC has definitely given you some idea of what the Army would be like. And besides the financial benefits that you would obtain upon completion of your tour of duty, you might also get training that would help you in a future career. Plus, you will be a more-mature student, better focused and more aware of what you want out of college.
One reason for going directly to college is that students who do not make this transition from high school may never go to college. You will also be the same age as your fellow classmates and may have a more fulfilling social experience.
