Public Schools vs. Private

My son is attending a private preschool this year. I'm still not sure about sending him to a public school next year. Could you please give me the pros and cons between attending public and private schools? I want to choose the right school for him. - Unsure
Answer: It is not realistic for anyone to make generalizations saying that private schools are automatically good and public schools are below-par. Both systems have many excellent schools. You will need to compare what the programs of both types of schools in your area will be able to offer your son, not just next year but throughout the whole elementary school experience in order to make the best decision.
While private schools are often smaller in size, they do not automatically offer smaller classes. Class size should be an important consideration in deciding what type of school you wish your child to attend. Look also at the scores on national assessment tests to get a picture of how well the children in each school are achieving. Achievement definitely matters. Another very important factor is the quality of the teachers. This is not based solely on the credentials they hold, even though this is very important. The number of years of teaching experience individual staff members have at a school indicates whether or not the teachers will have a good understanding of the curriculum.
