Science Activities with Water

Can you give us some simple science activities to do with our children? - Science
Answer:Your children can experiment with the freezing of water and melting of ice. Supervise younger children doing the experiments.
Experiment No. 1: Your children will investigate if salt affects how fast ice melts. Have them put the same amount of water in two teacups. They should add a tablespoon of salt to one of the cups, and then add one ice cube to each cup. Soon, they'll see if salt affects the melting of ice.
Experiment No. 2: Your children will investigate if adding shortening (solid cooking fat) to water will affect how fast it freezes. They should fill two identical containers with a cup of water, and then put a tablespoon of shortening in one of them. Next, both containers go in the freezer, and the children time how long it takes the water in each one to freeze.
