My 17-year-old is having a miserable senior year. She is freaked out worrying about getting into college, choosing a career and making something of her life. What can I tell her to get her off the worry train? -- Too Worried
Answer: Unfortunately, this is a worrisome time for teens. Your daughter's concerns are very common. Having the facts about colleges may alleviate some of her worries. First of all, there are more than 2,500 colleges in the Unites States, excluding all the two-year programs. There is a college out there that will want to admit her. Where she goes does not matter as much as what she learns. This is what will help her choose a career and make something of her life.
Insist that your daughter begin to build time for fun into her life. Have her schedule some weekend activities with her friends. By making time for fun, she can build some good memories of her senior year.
