Help in Applying to Art Schools

My SAT scores are only average, but I do have a 3.0 GPA. I want to major in art in college and am wondering if sending a portfolio of my artwork along with my application would help me get into a great school? -- Talented Artist
Answer: If you are applying to art schools, you should definitely send in a portfolio of your work. In fact, most of these schools require this. If you are an exceptional artist and are applying to schools that are a bit of a stretch because of your SAT scores and GPA, sending in a portfolio could be helpful in getting admitted. In fact, students who are talented in any area should always make sure that admissions officers are aware of this. Who knows -- one of the schools you apply to could be looking for talented artists.
