Answer: Your daughter needs to choose possible colleges right away based on such things as location, size, academic program and cost. There is good college search help available from school counselors and online at the College Board and ACT Web sites.
Help your daughter clarify what she wants in a school. Advise her also to make a list including schools where she will definitely, probably or might possibly be admitted. If possible, help her visit several of these schools to clarify what she wants in a college. Also, don't forget to talk about financing her education.
