I have three grandchildren -- a 10-year-old grandson and two granddaughters, ages 8 and 5. I would love to have some activities for them to do when they come to visit beyond playing computer games and watching videos. -- Grannie
Answer: Most children enjoy it when they get to play some of the good old-fashioned games from the past. Get out a book of playing-card games. Surely you remember War, Old Maid, Go Fish or Concentration. Dominoes can be played or used as building blocks. It is also fun to create patterns with them that can tumble down. The trick is to find games, puzzles or toys that your grandchildren do not have at home. That way, when they come to visit, they enjoy playing with what you have. Another suggestion is to go online or to the library and get recipes that you can make together, from play dough to cupcakes.
