ABC's of the End of the School Year

Answer: Look at our ABC's checklist to make sure that your family has done or will do what is necessary to end this school year successfully.
A Attend all end-of-the-year events.
B Bring back everything belonging to the school, from library books to musical instruments.
C Communicate with teachers to know where your children might need help during the summer.
D Do complete all necessary enrollment forms for next year.
E Encourage your children to clean out their desks and all school lockers.
F Find all missing possessions, from hats to shoes, that may have been left at school.
G Get school friends' addresses, phone numbers and e-mails so they can be contacted during the summer.
H Have IEPs, if needed, finalized for the next school year.
I Investigate all of the opportunities in the community for having fun adventures with your children during the summer.
J Join programs at the local library to keep reading skills sharp.
K Keep some of the papers that show the work your children have done this year.
L Learn about all the educational school and district programs offered during the summer.
M Make sure all fines are paid.
N Never be too busy to listen to your children at this time.
O Obtain textbooks, if possible, to review or preview difficult subjects.
P Pick up the projects children want to keep, and bring them home.
Q Question your children about the special things that they'd like to do this summer.
R Return all end-of-the-year forms to the school.
S Sign up for summer academic and recreational programs.
T Thank your children's teachers for all the help that they have provided.
U Understand that the end of the year can be a stressful time.
V Vow to celebrate the end of the school year in a special way.
W Write on your calendar all the dates for fall activities beginning before the start of the school year.
